The Write One’s Ten Unforgettable “Hugot Moments”
SHARE
MANILA, Philippines — The dramatic scenes in this Viu and GMA serial called The Write One are so engrossing! We can all connect to the dialogue that Ruru Madrid, Bianca Umali, Mikee Quintos, Paul Salas, and the rest of the group convey.
The novel “The Write One” tells the narrative of Joyce (Bianca), a former starlet who became pregnant before she had the chance to become famous, and Liam (Ruru), a frustrated writer who is given the chance to rewrite his love and life story with the aid of a mysterious typewriter.
In Liam’s other universe, Joyce is a glamorous, strong, and in-demand actress of her time, while he serves as the career-focused and goal-oriented creative director of one of the top film production companies in the nation. Via (Mikee), a different woman, and Liam get engaged. Behind Via’s ‘perfect’ exterior is a calculating, obnoxious, and egotistical person who will stop at nothing to keep Liam by her side. In contrast, Joyce is being courted by Hans (Paul), a lawyer who can provide Joyce with the security Liam cannot in the past.
We’ve gathered a few of the moving and inspiring scenes we noticed while watching The Write One. Let us know whether your favorite “hugot moment” made the list by checking out our selections below!
EPISODE 1: The Beginning of Our Love Story
Take that leap of faith
In order to avoid regret, Joyce prods Liam to take a leap of faith and confess to the person he likes. Liam worries that the other person won’t feel the same way about him, but Joyce suggests the possibility that she might just be waiting for him. And then they kiss!
“What if she likes you? What if she’s now ready to open her heart to you?”
“If you were in my place, what should I do?”
“Take a leap of faith, Mr. Herrera. Maybe she’s just waiting for you.”
Bonus:
“Love isn’t mysterious. People just make it complicated sometimes. For me, love is very simple. Love is an act of bravery. You need to be brave when you open up your heart to others.”
EPISODE 2: Your Biggest Sin
Own up to your mistakes
Joyce expresses regret for failing to recognize Liam’s attempts to become a good spouse and father following a contentious dispute the previous evening. Liam apologizes to Joyce and says that he ought to have made better choices.
“Actually, I was wrong. I was wrong because I overreacted. I know you’re just trying to become a good father and husband. I’m sorry because instead of being happy, instead of thanking you, I judged you. I said some hurtful words.”
EPISODE 4: Remember, I’m Here
Be careful what you wish for
Liam takes his father’s advise to get therapy after being transported to a different realm without Joyce and Dex but with his mother still living. He acknowledges feeling bad about having desired for this version of reality when the psychiatrist asks how he thinks about his “dream” of waking up in an alternative universe.
The psychiatrist then responds, “Maybe there are wishes we only regret after they are fulfilled.”
EPISODE 5: I Feel Trapped
Sometimes, drastic changes can be good.
Liam continues to deliver a statement at the groundbreaking ceremony while clearly feeling lost in the new timeline. He improvises his speech and discusses how, like the major mall renovation, large changes are occasionally necessary in life as he reflects on the dramatic changes that have occurred in his life.
“I realized that a big change can be worthwhile.”
EPISODE 5: I Feel Trapped
We all deserve a second chance.
Via observes Liam’s obvious anxiety at coming to terms with his other identity as a cunning businessman. He asks Via as to whether or not this turns her off.
“You taught me that everyone can have a second chance, just like how you gave me my second chance at happiness.”
EPISODE 6: We Met Before?
We do crazy things for love.
Liam sneaks into what appears to be a wedding following the disastrous news conference and witnesses Nestor’s grandson appealing for his grandfather’s release.
“We do unthinkable things because of intense feelings of love.”
EPISODE 6: We Met Before?
Life is full of twists and turns.
In the parallel universe, Liam first encounters Joyce, but she is not his wife this time; rather, she is the well-known actress Savana. The impossible did occur, but it was the wrong kind: Liam broke into Savana’s studio!
EPISODE 7: Figuring Out
We all deserve to be happy.
Unexpectedly, Liam is hired to drive a bridal car in a scenario with Savana. He offers guidance to the character played by Savana who is opposed to getting married to the groom.
“Everything happens for a reason. What’s worse is to spend the rest of your life with him but you are not happy.”
EPISODE 9: A Magic Typewriter
Women are powerful! (Ep. 9)
The revisions Savana wants made to the plot are discussed by Liam’s creative team. She is miffed that her protagonist is yet another helpless victim. The team was forced to make changes to the narrative and screenplay as she emphasized even more how women don’t need to be saved.
“We, women, need no saving. [This movie] should also show women who can defend themselves.”
EPISODE 10: Get Jealous
Be sincere with your apologies.
After Savana learned that Liam was assisting the people of Sitio Verde in getting back on their feet, they made up.
“What is an apology without accountability, right?”
