Viu Philippines, the leading pan-regional streaming platform, hosted the finale watch party for K-Love, its Filipino original romantic comedy series about how turning into Korean drama fans helped five friends overcome their struggles in life and eventually find love.
The hip and trendy bar Nokal hidden at the basement parking lot of Makati Cinema Square is a very fitting venue as it reflects the characteristics of its protagonists who are all urbanites. Gabby Padilla (Frances), one of the main cast members, attended the screening, and even joined the hired flash mob dance performers onstage after the main program and grooved to the music in her sexy silk purple dress.
The executives of Viu, as well as the artistic team of the well-loved series, were almost all in attendance. Some of them gave speeches prior to the watch party, like Corinne Vistan (Series creator and Head of content development aka Viu Originals Head), who called K-Love “a beautiful collaboration between American and Filipino talents”, as well as Arianne Kader-Cu, the Country Head of Viu Philippines.
Ian Takahashi, the series’ cinematographer who also worked on Suicide Squad (2021) was in attendance. Sisters Tara and Tweet Sering wrote the teleplay while Bobby Yan and John Paul Su served as the directing duo, the former having directed more episodes.
The food literally spiced up the evening as most of them are Korean inspired and will challenge one’s tastebuds such as the wasabi popcorn, samgyupsal, friend and sausages, etc. Alcohol was free-flowing throughout the night.
Other main cast members who weren’t able to attend the finale screening at Nokal are Iza Calzado (Tish), Jake Cuenca (Jay), Sue Ramirez (Val), and Isabelle Daza (Sheila). Supporting cast members who were spotted at the watch party are Guji Lorenzana (David), Ian Pangilinan (Luis), Patani Daño (Yaya Beth), Carla Martinez (Vivian), Marnie Lapus (Tita 1), and Mischa Clark (Tita 2).
“The kiss is just the beginning of a brand new chapter,” were the final words from the last episode. It looks like the series is very much open to having a Season 2 but for now, you can catch the final 2 episodes of K-Love in the upcoming weeks for free by downloading the Viu App via Google Play, Apple Store, etc.
