Taylor Swift expressed her excitement and admiration when the iconic American boy band NSYNC reunited at the 2023 VMAs and bestowed the “Anti-Hero” singer with a moon person award for best pop.

The pop star couldn’t resist her excitement when Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick, who came together as a group for the first time onstage during the September 12 MTV Video Music Awards, presented her with the Best Pop Video trophy.

I’m not doing well pivoting from this to this,” Taylor said, gesturing from the popular male band to her award. “I had your dolls. Are you doing something? What’s going to happen now?” She continued, “You’re pop personified, so to receive this from your golden pop hands is really too much.”

However, the Moon Person wasn’t the sole gift NSYNC gave to Taylor during their on-stage encounter. As the “Cruel Summer” singer approached the microphone, Lance offered her a friendship bracelet, a token frequently exchanged among Swifties.

Swift expressed her gratitude to NSYNC’s Lance Bass for the friendship bracelet he presented to her when she joined them on stage. “I love making pop music,  I love making pop music videos, I also love making country. I love slinking around different genres,” she said. 

“The only reason I’m allowed to do that is because you, the fans, gave me the opportunity to do that.”

“It’s all just one big adventure and it’s so much fun to challenge myself to make music that’s different than what I made last and I just love you for it. But I really love making pop music so thank you so so so much.”

NSYNC was a popular all-male band that gained immense fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The group was formed in Orlando, Florida, and its members included Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass. NSYNC was known for their catchy pop and R&B songs, elaborate choreography, and a dedicated fan base. 

Some of their well-known hits include “Bye Bye Bye,” “It’s Gonna Be Me,” and “Tearin’ Up My Heart.” They were a significant part of the late 90s and early 2000s pop music scene and had a large impact on popular culture during that time.

Meanwhile, Taylor dominated MTV’s VMAs this 2023. In the realm of VMAs, iconic figures such as Madonna and Beyoncé have established remarkable standards. Nevertheless, Swift’s nine awards in 2023 propel her into this prestigious circle. By the conclusion of the evening, her overall count of 23 VMA accolades places her just behind Madonna’s 20 and ahead of Beyoncé’s 30.

Her song “Anti-Hero” was awarded as “Song of the Year, “Video of the Year,” “Best Pop,” “Best Direction,” “Best Cinematography,” “Best Visual Effects,” and “Best Editing.” “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)” was recognized as “Best Collaboration.” and of course, Taylor was hailed as “Artist of the Year.”

The atmosphere within the Prudential Center crackled with excitement. Every time Taylor Swift’s name was called, a chorus of cheers reverberated through the venue. The crowd erupted in a standing ovation, particularly when she was honored with the “Video of the Year” award. Additionally, the 2023 VMAs had a surprise guest appearance that became the talk of the town.

Swift’s appearance at the 2023 VMAs was a momentous occasion. With a remarkable nine awards won in a single evening, Swift not only left an indelible mark but also highlighted her enduring impact on pop culture.
