Viewers were left in shock with how things unfolded at the 94th Academy Awards event this year, after actor Will Smith approached Chris Rock and slapped the presenter straight across the face.

The Pursuit Of Happiness star headed towards the stage, following a joke that Chirs made about Will’s wife, Jada. Will returned to his seat but then clapped back at the comedian and shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth.”

Chris, clearly stunned, said, “Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me.” He later on told Will from where he was standing, “Wow, dude. It was a G.I. Jane joke.”

“That was the greatest night in the history of history,” Chris added.

One may recall that Chris referred to Jada  as “G.I. Jane” due to her short hair. Back in 2018, Jada revealed that she had been diagnosed with alopecia, and from then on has been candid about struggling with the condition.

On a lighter note, Will took home the award for best actor for his role in the movie King Richard. The celeb also issued an apology and said, “I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse and have people talk people about you. In this business, you gotta have people disrespecting you. And you gotta smile and pretend that’s ok.”

He continued on and stated, “I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people.”

Meanwhile, award-winning actor Denzel Washington was seen chatting with both Will and Chris during the break. As for Chris, he won’t be pressing charges against Will,  according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
