Taguig City has distributed Emergency Go-Bags to 52 public schools to boost disaster preparedness and ensure that teachers and students are ready to respond in times of calamity.
Mayor Lani Cayetano led the distribution of Emergency Go-Bags on October 6, 2025, at Pembo Elementary School in Barangay Pembo, joined by Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit, Taguig-Pateros Congressman Ricardo āAdingā Cruz Jr. and Taguig 2nd District Rep. Jorge Bocobo, and members of the City Council. Teachers, students, and school administrators also attended the event.

Each Go-Bag contains essential items for both natural and man-made disasters, including a flashlight, whistle, first-aid supplies, alcohol, masks, and a printed set of emergency guidelines.
In her message, Mayor Lani emphasized the importance of preparedness and collective responsibility in saving lives:
āWe are gathered here today for one particular purpose ā āyan po ay siguraduhin na sa loob ng paaralan, sa kalagitnaan po ng emergency, disaster, man-made or natural, ay mayroon po na mga Go-Bags na mabubunot ang mga estudyante po natin para po sila ay maka-survive sa anuman pong eventuality.ā
The mayor likened Taguigās proactive efforts to the story of Noah, who built the Ark before the flood came.
āThere was no flood when Noah built the Ark. Wala pang ulan noon, ngunit kumikilos na siya. Sapagkat alam niya, ang tunay na pagkalinga ay hindi naghihintay ng problema bago mag malasakit,ā the mayor said, adding that true care means anticipating the needs of the people before disaster strikes
Pembo Elementary School Principal Ryan De Una said the project is timely and vital for the protection of students:
āTunay nga po, timely, napapanahon ang ganito pong proyekto ng ating City of Taguig. Una, ang kapakanan ng mamamayan, particularly po ng mga kabataan sa ating paaralan. Direkta pong makikinabang sa napakagandang proyekto ng ating lungsod. Maraming salamat dahil malaking tulong ito sa oras ng pangangailangan.ā
Teachers also welcomed the initiative, noting that the Go-Bags will help them act swiftly and systematically during emergencies:
āNapakahalaga po nito dahil hindi natin alam kung kailan darating ang sakuna. Kapag may Go-Bag na nakahanda, mas mabilis naming maasikaso ang kaligtasan ng mga bata at mas maayos naming magagampanan ang aming tungkulin bilang mga guro,ā said teacher Miraflor Inarda.
The Go-Bag initiative also strengthens disaster-response protocols taught during school drills, such as Drop, Cover, and Hold during earthquakes, and organized evacuation and first-aid response afterward. It highlights that preparedness is the best defense before any disaster, reminding families and institutions to keep a ready Go-Bag for survival.
Mayor Lani said the program is part of Taguigās Transformative, Lively, and Caring (TLC) City Agenda, which promotes a culture of readiness and care for the community:
āAng Go Bag ay hindi lamang isang bag ā ito ay simbolo ng ating kahandaan, kaligtasan, at pag-asa.ā
