The art world is abuzz this September as Jaime Ponce de Leon, owner of León Gallery, prepares to auction off a 1929 Fernando Amorsolo painting titled “Under the Mango Tree.” This masterpiece, which ticks off all the critical boxes for art valuation—provenance, period, medium, and subject matter—carries a starting bid of ₱18 million.

This is probably the most beautiful Amorsolo I have ever seen,” Ponce de Leon remarked, emphasizing its potential to fetch even higher bids given the online bidding component that León Gallery has integrated, allowing global participation.
