The Holy Week tradition of Visita Iglesia remains a deeply significant practice for Filipino Catholics. It is a time of reflection, prayer, and devotion, as the faithful visit multiple churches to meditate on the Stations of the Cross

In Baguio City, known for its cool climate and scenic mountain views, several historic and serene churches offer the perfect setting for this sacred pilgrimage. Here are five churches you can include in your Visita Iglesia itinerary this Holy Week.

Perched atop Mount Mary Hill, the Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral, more commonly known as Baguio Cathedral, is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Its twin spires and stained-glass windows make it a striking site of worship.

Built in the early 20th century, this cathedral has stood as a witness to the city’s history, even serving as a refuge during World War II. Today, it remains a central place for prayer, offering a peaceful ambiance for reflection.

2. Saint Joseph the Worker Parish

Located near Wright Park, Saint Joseph the Worker Parish is another must visit for Visita Iglesia. This church, known for its simple yet elegant design, holds historical significance as the site of the 1973 wedding of former President Ferdinand Marcos’ daughter, Imee Marcos.

With its spacious interior and serene surroundings, it provides a solemn place for Lenten prayers and meditation.

3. Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto

While not a traditional church, the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto is a well-known pilgrimage site in Baguio. Devotees climb over 250 steps to reach the grotto, where a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands.

The journey itself serves as a form of penance and reflection, making it a meaningful stop for Visita Iglesia. The site also features a chapel where visitors can pray and attend Mass.

4. Pink Sisters Convent and Chapel

The Adoration Convent of the Divine Mercy, commonly known as the Pink Sisters Convent, is a sanctuary of peace and prayer. The convent is home to the Sister-Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration, who wear distinctive pink habits and are known for their continuous prayers before the Blessed Sacrament

5. Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish
