Bible Verses On Not Seeking Revenge
SHARE
When a person betrays you, you will probably want to fight back. This is never a good idea. Seeking revenge will never make you feel better, in fact, this could actually backfire.
Having said that, let’s take a look at some Bible verses which encourage us not to seek revenge.
Leviticus 19:18
“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.”
This Bible verse urges Israelites to love one another and not to hold grudges against each other.
1 Thessalonians 5:15
“Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.”
This encourages others to always be good and never get even when people have wronged you.
1 Peter 3:9
“Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”
This third verse means do not fight back, instead repay others with a blessing because that is what God wants us to do.
Romans 12:19
“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it[a] to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
This reminds us that revenge should never be an option. Leave it all to God because it is said that vengeance is His.
Deuteronomy 32:35
“It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.”
God reiterates in this Bible verse that vengeance is His and he continues to remind us that He has the power to do this.
