The couple Luis Manzano and Jessy Mendiola signed their respective contracts with ABS-CBN in separate time slots during a special contract signing event on Tuesday, July 2.
Luis, known as the “National Host,” renewed his contract with the Kapamilya Network.
ABS-CBN’s Chairman Mark Lopez, President and CEO Carlo Katigbak, COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, CFO Rick Tan, and Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi attended the signing ceremony. Also present was June Rufino, Manzano’s talent manager and president of Professional Artists Managers Inc.
Before signing the contract, Manzano explained why being a “forever Kapamilya” is significant to him. Afterward, he celebrated his latest milestone by making a toast with ABS-CBN’s executives and his manager.
“Para sa akin kaya sobrang importante na mga maging ‘Forever Kapamilya’ is nararamdaman mo na nandiyan kayo para sa isa’t isa. And the word is already there — Kapamilya. Siguro I would like to think that at the very challenging times of ABS-CBN, I was there, nandoon ako. At the same time, noong ako ay dumaan sa napaka-challenging points ng buhay ko, hindi bumitaw o hindi nawala ang tiwala sa akin ng ABS-CBN. And that is why I’m proud to say that I am forever a Kapamilya,” he said.
One of the clear projects Luis will undertake is hosting the newest game show, “Rainbow Rumble.”
In the meantime, after a five-year break, actress Jessy Mendiola has returned by signing a contract with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. Present during the contract signing were Vidanes, Dyogi and talent manager Alan Real.
Before signing the contract, Jessy was accompanied by her husband. She confessed to feeling nervous.
“Grabe kinakabahan ako, hindi ko alam kung bakit. Five years akong nawala,” she admitted.
Jessy also confessed that she hadn’t anticipated making a return to showbiz. She thanked the executives of ABS-CBN for their support. She feels special because even though she was gone for a long time, she now feels accepted with open arms.
“Kagabi pa lang sinasabi ko I am super anxious and nervous kasi it’s been five years since my last big event and seeing you guys here, I am just really happy and grateful to be back home.”
“ABS-CBN has always, you know, has my back at palagi niyo akong inalagaan. And Star Magic hindi pa rin talaga nagbabago ang alagaan…”
“To everyone, it’s never too late to chase your dreams. Finally natupad ‘yong dream ko na magkaroon ng family. Ngayon ‘yong dream naman ni Jessy ang itutuloy ko,” she reiterated.
After the contract signing, Jessy shared her dream roles in an interview with MJ Felipe.
She said that she is open to portraying gray roles or antagonist roles because she is now brave as an actress, being a mother already.
She is also willing to undergo workshops because she has been away from the industry for a long time. As for sensual roles, she said that those roles need careful consideration now that she is married and has children.
