Why Easter Sunday Should Center on Jesus, Not the Bunny

Chris Pratt Puts Jesus at the Top of His Must-Haves List

When actor Chris Pratt listed the things he “can’t live without,” fans might have expected the usual Hollywood staples—luxury cars, designer labels, or exotic getaways. But the Guardians of the Galaxy star took a different route. In a recent Instagram post, Pratt humorously listed essentials like oxygen, blood, gravity—and right in the heart of that list: Jesus.

Known for blending lighthearted humor with sincerity, Pratt captioned the list “Just the essentials.” Alongside Jesus were mentions of his family, food and water, NFL football, bass fishing, and even his glam team.

While the post was playful, the inclusion of Jesus was anything but casual. It reflects a core part of Pratt’s identity—one he continues to share openly with the world.

“I care enough about God to take a stand, even if it costs me,” Pratt said in an earlier interview. “If it costs me everything, I don’t care.” It’s a bold stance in an industry where faith often takes a back seat. Yet for Pratt, following Christ isn’t a trend or a talking point—it’s the foundation of his life.

That conviction is deeply personal. Pratt’s faith was tested and ultimately solidified during the premature birth of his son in 2012. Faced with uncertainty, he turned to prayer. “He really saved my son,” Pratt said. “That was the moment [my faith] was cemented. My heart softened, and my faith hardened.” Since then, he’s committed to using his platform to share God’s goodness.

The actor, now a father of four, is intentional about passing that legacy to his children. “I want to raise my children up with an understanding that their dad was unashamed of his faith in Jesus,” he said.

That includes teaching them the power of prayer, the richness of grace, and the joy found in a relationship with Christ.

In a culture that often sidelines faith, Pratt draws strength from Scripture. Citing Matthew 5:14, he sees himself as “a city on a hill”—a light that cannot be hidden. “Anybody really close to me knows that already,” he noted. “But as people are learning that about me, it’s an interesting thing, because you don’t hear that a lot from people in entertainment.”

Still, Pratt is unfazed by critics. “If people don’t understand me, I’m going to pray for them,” he shared. His approach to backlash is to keep his eyes on God and focus on what matters most—his family, his calling, and his Savior.

Chris Pratt continues to remind the world that his true must-have isn’t fame or fortune—it’s Jesus. And in an age where bold Christian faith is rare in Hollywood, that declaration shines even brighter.
