Chris Pratt, widely known for his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, has never shied away from expressing his faith. However, his journey toward unwavering belief was shaped by a deeply personal experience—the premature birth of his eldest son, Jack.

This life-changing moment led Pratt to fully embrace his faith, vowing to dedicate his platform to God.

In 2012, Pratt and his then-wife, Anna Faris, welcomed Jack into the world seven weeks early. Born weighing just 3 pounds and 10 ounces, their son faced significant health challenges, spending a month in the neonatal intensive care unit.

During this difficult period, Pratt turned to prayer, making a heartfelt plea to God. “I made a deal with God again: ‘I’m sorry, God, here I am again, asking for Your grace again,’” he recalled in an interview. It was a moment of deep spiritual transition, one that ultimately cemented his faith.

Pratt has spoken candidly about how this event changed his perspective on life and Christian faith. “He really saved my son, and that was the moment my faith was hardened. My heart softened, but my faith became unshakable,” he said. From that point forward, he committed to using his public platform to share his beliefs, even if it meant facing criticism.

Raised in a home where religion was present but not deeply ingrained, Pratt experienced moments of faith throughout his life. He was baptized Catholic and had recommitted to his faith multiple times in his youth and early adulthood.

However, it was Jack’s birth that led him to surrender fully to God. “I told God, ‘If You save my son, I will give You everything. I won’t be ashamed to talk about You.’ And He did save my son, and I’ve been trying to make good on that promise ever since,” he shared.

Pratt’s outspoken faith has occasionally made him a target for criticism in Hollywood, but he remains steadfast. “I care enough about Jesus to take a stand, even if it costs me. It could cost me everything, but I don’t care. It’s worth it to me because this is what I’m called to do,” he stated.

Now married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, Pratt continues to prioritize faith in his family life. He is committed to raising his four children with a deep understanding of God’s grace and the power of prayer.

His journey has also inspired him to explore faith-based initiatives, such as supporting Christian media and engaging with platforms like the Bible in a Year podcast.

Despite the pressures of Hollywood, Pratt remains unwavering in his mission to be a light to others. “A city on a hill cannot be hidden,” he said, quoting Scripture. “I want to affirm believers and reach out to those who have never experienced God’s love. That’s where my heart is.”
