Crowder Reacts to Worship Song Forrest Frank Wrote About His Broken Leg

The Christian music community is experiencing a moment of creativity, faith, and collaboration like no other. What began as an unexpected trial for David Crowder has turned into a testimony of encouragement, thanks to fellow artist Forrest Frank.

Earlier this month, Crowder, 53, revealed he underwent emergency surgery after breaking his leg, a development that forced him to cancel several scheduled performances. While fans rallied with prayers, it was Forrest Frank, 30, who surprised everyone by writing a worship song inspired by Crowder’s situation—transforming hardship into a declaration of faith.
Frank, who himself recently experienced miraculous healing from fractured vertebrae, knows firsthand how God can use physical pain to birth something greater. In his response to Crowder’s injury, Frank recorded a song built around the lyrics:
“I put my faith in Jesus / I put my trust in God / All other ground is sinking sand / So I’m standing on the rock.”

The young artist shared that he simply wanted to “pay forward this blessing God gave me” and encouraged Crowder to add his own input. What could have been just a thoughtful gesture quickly grew into a genuine collaboration.
Crowder’s reaction was immediate—and heartfelt. “Forrest Frank, I needed that,” he said before revealing that he had already been working on his own additions to the track. His contribution deepened the message with lines proclaiming God’s unshakable promises:
“I’m standing on the only one who can save my soul / only love that never lets go / only anchor in the storm / His promises never fail.”

With two unique voices blending in one worship anthem, the collaboration feels like a divine appointment rather than coincidence. Crowder’s lyrical strength paired with Frank’s fresh energy promises a song that resonates not just with their fans but with the broader body of Christ.
What makes this moment even more remarkable is its context. Just weeks earlier, Frank shared with his 4.6 million Instagram followers how God miraculously healed his back after a painful accident. He explained that while he was confident God could have healed him immediately, the delay allowed him to release two songs—“God’s Got My Back” and “Lemonade”—which have since touched millions.

Now, with Crowder stepping into his own season of recovery, that same theme of turning pain into praise is on display again. Fans and fellow artists alike are celebrating the collaboration. The GMA Dove Awards account posted, “Injuries turning into epic collabs isn’t the trend we asked for… but [for real] the trend we needed.” MercyMe’s Bart Millard added a humorous touch, joking that even a morning cramp might inspire his next big hit.
At its heart, this story is more than just about two artists writing a song. It is a vivid reminder of how God’s people can uplift one another in times of hardship, transforming setbacks into opportunities for worship. As Psalm 40:3 declares, “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.”
For Crowder, recovery continues—but his leg injury has already become the backdrop for something eternal: a worship anthem that declares Christ as the unshakable rock.
