Heart Evangelista-Escudero takes oath as president of the Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc.

Kapuso star and fashion socialite Heart Evangelista has taken her oath in the Senate as the new president of the “Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. (SSFI).”
Led by her husband, Senate President Chiz Escudero, Heart, along with other senators’ wives, took their oaths of office and responsibilities in the socio-civic group this Wednesday, June 5.
“I am so honored to stand before everyone of you today as the new President of the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc.,” she said on his Instagram post.
“As I stand side by side with these men and women – my fellow spouses and officials who were involved in SSFI long before me, I could not help but be grateful for welcoming and supporting me in this challenging journey ahead. As I have said during our very first meeting, l am ready to honor the challenge of working together to find ways to uplift our people and our communities.”
“The legacies left by all the ladies before me, a treasure of stories and testaments of service to the nation is something that encourages me to continue what they have started – to make a difference and to inspire not only SSFl members but also individuals and groups who have the power to do something in improving the lives of people around us.”
“With your support, fellow spouses, SSFI support staff, the Senate community and of course of Senate President Chiz, I am bravely taking on these duties. It is inspiring to see what we can accomplish and what kind of changes we can all make together. Maraming salamat po!”
In her Instagram Stories, Heart paid tribute to the late Sen. Miriam Santiago. “I missed you very much today, mama,” she wrote, sharing old photos of them together.
Besides Heart, the new set of officers includes Kathryna Pimentel (Vice President), Maricel Tulfo (Secretary), Neil Llamanzares (Assistant Secretary), Lani Mercado-Revilla (Treasurer), Emmeline Vilar (Legal Counsel), and Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla and Nancy Dela Rosa (Public Relations Officers).
For committees, here are the new chairpersons:
Committee on Ways and Means- Mark Lapid
Committee on Public Assistance- Maricel Tulfo
Committee on Social Events- Kathryna Pimentel
Committee on Environment- Emmeline Villar
Committee on Finance & Logistics- Mr. Neil Llamanzares
Committee on Youth & Women- Issa Baraquel
Committee on Arts & Culture- Lani Cayetano
Heart has been appointed as the new head of the Senate Spouses Foundation after her husband, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, was recently sworn in as Senate President. In an Instagram post last Thursday, May 31, Heart shared some scenes from the meeting she attended with her fellow senators’ spouses.
“Our very first meeting and as they say, coming together is just the beginning. Excited to get down to work!” she captioned. “Thank you for the warm welcome fellow senate spouses. Ready to honor the challenge of working together and find ways to make our communities better and stronger,” she added.
It can be recalled that Chiz shared that his wife felt a sense of panic and became emotional upon realizing she would be assuming her new role unexpectedly.
The Senate Spouses Foundation in the Philippines is a non-profit organization made up of the spouses of senators. Its mission is to support a range of charitable, socio-civic, and humanitarian projects, with a focus on areas like education, healthcare, and community development.
The foundation frequently holds fundraising events and activities to raise resources for its causes and to aid marginalized communities.
