While the future seems brighter now that vaccines are rolling in, it’s important to still prioritize immune system as the COVID-19 pandemic carries on. Keeping our immune system in great condition shouldn’t be neglected, and luckily there are many ways to boost our immune response so we can readily face our daily activities and stressful schedules.
Below is a list to bear in mind and keep your health in check:
Choose immune-boosting food
Your diet plays a large role in your overall health, so being mindful of what you consume can help you stay stronger. Make sure that you’re having enough nutrients from what you’re eating. For example, citrus fruits like oranges are rich in Vitamin C, almonds and spinach are rich in Vitamin E, and you can have Vitamin B6 in chicken and tuna.
Sugary food and drinks can affect cells that attack bacteria, so it’s best to avoid them while you’re prioritizing your healthy diet.
Prioritize hydration
There’s a reason why drinking water has been constantly advised to everyone in order to stay healthy. Your circulatory system which carries immune cells that fight infection is largely made of water, and so being dehydrated can slow down the process. Dehydration also affects your body negatively in other ways, so while the amount of water people need varies, it’s important to know wether you’re drinking enough.
Get enough sleep
Are you getting your 7-9 hours of sleep? In real life, we usually sacrifice some nights due to work or studying, but it usually leads to higher stress levels and cause inflammation. It helps to know that your productivity and focus may also improve once you get enough sleep.
Practice stress management
Everyone these days are likely burdened by the stress of daily life under the pandemic, and managing such pain is no easy feat. Stress hormones can have a negative effect in our immune system, so finding ways to manage stress is also vital to getting healthier. Having therapy sessions, learning meditation, and doing mindfulness exercises are some of the activities that have proven to combat such pains over time.
Learn the Importance of Exercise
Exercising has a lot of benefits–from boosting your circulation to improving your physical performance. It releases feel-good chemicals, too. While its advantages may be common knowledge, people still find the task incredibly tedious. Starting small and regularly may be a good idea, however, as walking for half an hour regularly can also work wonders for your health.
