One of the surprise guests who gave a video message for Outstanding Asian Star Kathryn Bernardo was Jericho Rosales, during the actress’s contract renewal with Star Magic and ABS-CBN last Friday, February 2.

Hosted by her friend Dimples Romana, Kathryn inked renewal of contract with ABS-CBN and its talent arm management Star Magic, as a “seal of friendship.”

Echo expressed hope that he could work with Kathryn in the near future. “Hey, Kath. I want to congratulate you too for the steps that you’ve been taking. Been watching you and you know you’ve been doing great,” Jericho said in the video message presented to her during the contract renewal. “I hope that we can work on something someday, and we will work on that promise.”

In his Instagram story last November 2023, Echo shared a photo collage of leading men including Enrique Gil, James Reid, and Donny Pangilinan, with Kath in the middle. “While I would love to be paired with these gorgeous leading men, I think it would make more sense to work with Kath at this moment,” he captioned. 

Echo and Kath have not yet worked together on a project despite both being in ABS-CBN. However, Kath portrayed “Yna Macaspac” in the remake of the series “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” in 2015, which was originally led by Echo and his ex, Kristine Hermosa. Daniel Padilla took the role of Echo’s former character “Angelo Buenavista,” the love interest of Yna. 

Meanwhile, recently, the two became the center of intrigue after they were spotted jogging in the same area. The netizen said in her Facebook post, “Post ko na din sa wall ko para may remembrance. Kasabay lang namin mag jogging sila Kathryn Bernardo at Jericho Rosales. Wag nang mag showbiz question kasi di ko din alam ang sagot.”

Because of this, netizens wondered what was going on with Kath and Jericho, why they were in the same area and jogging together. This became an issue because the breakup of KathNiel and Jericho with his wife Kim made headlines in showbiz news. Is there something between Kathryn and Jericho, or do they have a project lined up together? Is this endorsed by ABS-CBN to establish rapport between them and make them comfortable with each other?

In an exclusive report by ABS-CBN News last Friday, February 2, Kathryn shared the story behind the said pictures that went viral. 

“Si John Manalo, a good-good-friend-of-mine… nagkita kami noon. Kasi magwo-work out talaga ako that day.  Tapos na-mention niya, magja-jogging. Tapos sabi niya, ‘Gusto mong sumama?’” Then I said ‘Okay, why not?’Kaysa mag-work out akong mag-isa. So, nag-jogging kami. It was parang 11 late na. We were just having fun, and working out. ‘Yon lang,” aniya. “He’s [Jericho] such a nice guy. Sobrang bait niya. So, ayaw mo bang makatrabaho ‘yong ganoon?” Kathryn explained.
