The spotlight is set on a new biblical hero as Sight & Sound Theatres unveils its latest original stage production, Joshua, premiering in March 2026 at its iconic Lancaster, Pennsylvania location.
Known for captivating storytelling and grand theatrical experiences, the company now turns to the life of one of the Old Testament’s most courageous leaders—Joshua, the faithful successor of Moses who led the Israelites into the Promised Land.
Set against the backdrop of ancient Israel, Joshua invites audiences to embark on a breathtaking journey filled with monumental biblical moments. From the giving of the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai to the miraculous crossing of the Jordan River and the fall of Jericho’s towering walls, the production promises to deliver awe-inspiring scenes rooted deeply in Scripture.
According to Katie Miller, director of brand development at Sight & Sound, “Audiences will journey alongside Joshua as these epic events come to life on stage.”
The production has been in development for nearly three years, and expectations are high. Known for immersive storytelling, the show will feature state-of-the-art stagecraft, including a massive LED screen, towering three-story sets, and a talented cast of nearly 60 performers. Combined with desert storms, dramatic battle sequences, and divine interventions, Joshua is poised to become a hallmark of Sight & Sound’s theatrical legacy.
But beyond the spectacle lies a deeper spiritual message. Producer Ryan Miller shares that while the visuals will undoubtedly be breathtaking, the story’s heart centers on redemption and faith. “There are countless individuals, from Moses and Joshua to Rahab, who live out this radical trust in the Lord,” he says. “My hope is audiences will see themselves reflected in these characters and be inspired, just like Joshua, to ‘be strong and courageous.’”
Indeed, the show’s narrative spans a transformational period in biblical history—transitioning from the Israelites’ Exodus from Egypt to their eventual settlement in Canaan. It captures not only the physical journey across rivers and through battles, but also the emotional and spiritual journey of a people learning to trust God‘s promises.
With every new production, Sight & Sound continues its mission to present “true stories of redemption” through powerful visuals and strong biblical themes. Since its founding in 1976, the company has brought audiences closer to Scripture with past productions like Moses, Joseph, and Jesus. Each show blends live animals, original music, and intricate set design to create an unforgettable experience for all ages.
In recent years, the theatre has expanded its offerings through digital platforms and feature films, reaching new audiences beyond the stage. Still, the Lancaster stage remains at the heart of its creative storytelling, and Joshua is poised to be a highlight of the 2026 season.
Tickets for Joshua go on sale May 15 at 8:30 a.m. ET. For families, faith communities, and theatre lovers alike, this promises to be a production worth experiencing.
