Netflix has officially announced the premiere dates and exciting new cast members for the highly anticipated second season of Wednesday. The hit series, starring Jenna Ortega as the iconic Wednesday Addams, will return in two parts: the first four episodes will launch on August 6, 2025, followed by the final four on September 3, 2025.
The first trailer for the season has already generated major buzz, offering fans a glimpse into what awaits at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday, now a familiar face at the eerie institution, faces new challenges under the leadership of a mysterious new principal, Barry Dort, portrayed by veteran actor Steve Buscemi. Described as a character with âreal outcast prideâ but hidden motives, Dortâs arrival is expected to bring fresh twists to the story.
Joining the Addams family on campus is Wednesdayâs younger brother, Pugsley, played by Isaac Ordonez. Executive producer Tim Burton teased that Pugsley would be an “outcast among outcasts,” promising an entertaining dynamic between the siblings.
Meanwhile, Wednesdayâs parents, Morticia and Gomez Addams, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis GuzmĂĄn, will have a greater presence this season, adding an extra layer of “torture” for the fiercely independent Wednesday.
One of the most exciting additions to the cast is Joanna Lumley, who takes on the role of Hester Frump, Wednesdayâs eccentric grandmother. According to show creator Miles Millar, Lumley brought Hester to life perfectly, nailing every scene with humor and charm.
Lumley herself described the experience of working on set as “intoxicating,” especially delighting in the elaborate costumes and towering wigs her character demands.
The first trailer opens with a humorous airport security scene, where Wednesday, armed with an assortment of unconventional items including a knuckle duster and several knives, faces a puzzled security guard. This clever sequence sets the tone for what promises to be another season full of dark humor and thrilling adventures.
Jenna Ortega, who reprises her role and also steps in as a producer this season, has shared that the new episodes will lean more heavily into horror themes, drawing inspiration from classic slasher films like Carrie and Prom Night. Ortega noted that the creative team embraced a more ambitious approach for Season 2, resulting in bigger, more elaborate sequences that maintain the showâs signature spooky charm.
Another notable addition to the cast includes Christopher Lloyd, a familiar face to Addams Family fans, though his exact role remains a mystery. Additionally, the season may feature a cameo from Lady Gaga, further raising anticipation among viewers.
Fans can expect a supernatural mystery packed with “fresh foes and woes,” as Wednesday navigates the complicated web of family secrets, old adversaries, and new threats. The seriesâ decision to split the season is seen as a strategic move by Netflix to keep audiences engaged across a longer span, fueling excitement and discussions between releases.
