NEW YORK CITY TOURISM + CONVENTIONS SHOWCASES IT’S TIME FOR CULTURE

“It’s Time For Culture” makes a comeback from May 9-21, as confirmed by the New York City Tourism + conventions.
The offerings comprise of almost 100 cultural organizations spanning all five boroughs. The lineup includes concerts, tours, classes, seasonal events, and family-oriented programs, kicking off New York City summer cultural season’s unofficial start. Fred Dixon, President and CEO of New York City Tourism + Conventions, explained that 40% of international travel is due to cultural travel, and remains at the apex of New York City visitors’ activities. “As the weather warms, we’re launching “It’s Time for Culture” to encourage visitors to explore the diversity and vibrancy of our city’s cultural landscape, and the talent and creativity that can be found across all five boroughs,” he added.
The variety and luxuriance of the New York city scene’s celebrated by “It’s Time for Culture, giving tourists the chance to immerse in a multitude of experiences and plunge into the lively cultural hotspots of the city. Some of the participants are: Coney Island USA, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Museum of the City of New York, Harlem Onme Stop, New York Hall of Science, Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, Mark Morris Dance Group, New York Live Arts, Apollo Theater, Louis Armostrong House Museum, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Dance Parade, National Museum of the American Indian, American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog, National Lighthouse Museum, and many more.
Queens Theatre Executive Director Taryn Sacramone is excited to lend a hand to New York City Tourism + Conventions’ It’s Time for Culture endeavor, as she is also the Co-Chair of its Cultural Committee. She wants to aid in spreading awareness to one-of-a-kind cultural organizationsall over five boroughs. “We look forward to welcoming visitors to Queens Theatre to experience our interactive magic show, and we encourage them to check out the variety of vibrant cultural offerings included in the program,” she shared.

The financial revitalization of New York City carried on in 2022 with more tham 56 million tourists arriving in the City — a 72.5% rise over 2021. This movement signals the return of the City’s record 2019 visitation benchmark which is at 85%. The City keeps up with its target of welcoming 63.3 million tourists in 2023. More than half of New York City’s visitors are made up of cultural explorers.
Friday Nights at The Whitney
Every Friday night from 7pm to 10pm, The Whitney implements a pay-what-you can scheme for its entrance fee. Delight in the museum’s displays along with beverages at the Studio Bar and sunset views on the balconies.

Date Night at The Met
Bring someone special to you or visit on your own to enjoy an evening of music, beverages, and art from the past 5,000 years. This event is free with museum admission, which
is always a pay-what-you-can scheme for New York State residents and NY, NJ, and CT students with valid ID. Kindly keep in mind that pay-what-can-wish tickets must be obtained in person and lines can be long, so plan accordingly. Wheelchair access is available, and assistive listening devices with headsets or neck loops can be requested at the Admissions Desk in the Main Hall. Bringing your own headphones is recommended.

The Great Lighthouse Hunt
Travel through Staten Island using a map and directions, stopping at various spots to see the borough’s ten lighthouses. Volunteers from the National Lighthouse Museum will be present at each location to provide you with lighthouse information and the stickers that match to each lighthouse on your map. It is advised to go by vehicle, motorcycle, or bicycle (for experienced cyclists). One automobile can be rented by a family or group for $35; motorcycles and bicycles cost $15 each.
