Pastor Mike Jr. Sets New Record With Sweep at 2025 Stellar Awards

The 40th Annual Gospel Music Awards was a night to remember as Pastor Mike Jr., born Michael McClure Jr., made history with a record-breaking sweep. Held at the iconic Schermerhorn Symphony Center on August 15, the event celebrated the best in Christian music, and this year, Pastor Mike Jr. claimed the spotlight, winning all nine categories in which he was nominated.

The Birmingham, Alabama-based pastor and artist now holds the distinction of being the most decorated Stellar Awards recipient in a single evening, surpassing gospel legends Kirk Franklin and Marvin Sapp. His unprecedented achievement includes wins for Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Amen,” Album of the Year for I Got Away, and Producer of the Year, among others.

“Amen” proved to be a cultural and musical phenomenon, earning accolades for Urban Inspirational Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year, while I Got Away secured Album of the Year honors, highlighting Pastor Mike Jr.’s versatility as a songwriter, performer, and producer. The EP, which reached No. 5 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums, has resonated deeply with audiences nationwide, blending heartfelt lyrics with contemporary gospel sounds.
Pastor Mike Jr., who is also the founder of Church Rock City with locations across Alabama, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, shared his gratitude on Instagram following the win: “None of this makes sense without God. None of this happens without you. I’m deeply grateful, and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.” His career total now stands at 28 Stellar Awards, solidifying his place among gospel music’s elite.

CeCe Winans, who co-hosted alongside her brother BeBe, also took home three awards, emphasizing gospel music’s enduring ability to uplift and inspire audiences both inside and outside the church.

With 30 award categories in total, Pastor Mike Jr. claimed nearly a third of the night’s honors, demonstrating not only his popularity but the impact of his artistry within the gospel music community. The Stellar Awards, now in its 40th year, continues to celebrate the achievements of artists, writers, and industry professionals, honoring contributions that shape and elevate the genre.
