TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 Achieves Global Denim Availability In Six Months; Vol. 2 Debuts at Kingpins Amsterdam

Lenzing – When TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 debuted at last year’s Kingpins Amsterdam in October, 17 mill partners across five countries presented fabrics featuring the new fiber. Just six months on, participation has more than doubled, evolving into a global network that spans nine countries and four continents, signaling both strong industry momentum and growing demand.

Lenzing’s second collaborative denim collection now brings 20 new mill partners from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Mexico, Pakistan, Türkiye and Vietnam into the programme, broadening sourcing options into regions where global brands are actively buying. Combined with the original Volume 1 network covering China, Egypt, Pakistan, Spain and Türkiye, this expanded ecosystem significantly increases access to the fiber worldwide.

From concept to commercial pull

Four development partners – Advance Denim (China), AGI Denim (Pakistan), Orta (Türkiye) and Textil Santanderina (Spain) – created the initial TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 fabrics ahead of last year’s debut, with 13 additional mills contributing to the launch collection. Following the show, mills and brands that had not been part of Volume 1 approached Lenzing to collaborate, drawn by the fiber’s ability to deliver the textured, naturally irregular aesthetic of cotton denim while retaining the softness and responsible production credentials¹ ² ³ TENCEL™ is known for.

That interest is grounded in a practical advantage noted by brands at Première Vision Paris: a buyer spots a familiar mill partner on a garment hangtag and moves directly to trial, reducing the lead time typically associated with new fiber adoption.

The commercial trajectory now extends to the retail shelf. In March 2026, less than six months after the fiber’s debut and ahead of the Volume 2 collection reveal, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 denim products went on sale through one of the world’s largest fashion retailers, bringing the cotton-like aesthetic and responsible production credentials¹ ² ³ of TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 to a global consumer audience.

What makes TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 different

TENCEL™ Lyocell has been part of denim for over three decades, but primarily in the weft. Standard lyocell’s uniform surface and fluid drape limited its use in the warp, the visible yarn that defines how jeans look after wash-down.

TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 addresses this through Lenzing’s Variocut technology: controlled variation in staple lengths (10–28 mm) that mirrors naturally grown cotton, delivering an opaque, matte finish with clean indigo wash-downs and TENCEL™ softness with more body⁴. With global fiber demand projected to grow 47.6 per cent to 189 million tonnes by 2040⁵, cellulosic fibers that can perform in the warp expand sourcing options at a time the industry needs them.“

MMCF fabrics have historically been limited in replicating the way denim incorporates cotton’s mixed-length fibers into the fabric weave, which is essential for an authentic vintage look,” said David Tring, Denim Head at The Magic Of Denim. “I got a close-up look at TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 at the last Kingpins show and it clearly delivers that visual authenticity, with the added benefit of the soft hand feel that TENCEL™ brings. I’m looking forward to seeing how industry partners have developed it further at Kingpins Amsterdam this April.”

Heritage aesthetics, global access

Volume 2 features 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 fabrics along with cotton and linen blended options, from lightweight to heavyweight, covering bottoms, shirts, dresses and all-overs. Most developments center on warp applications, where the fiber’s textured character and wash-down performance offer the clearest differentiation.“

TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 embodies the authentic matte aesthetic of cotton while maintaining the superior softness and comfort essential to contemporary denim,” said Lucia Rosin, Founder and Head of Design, Meidea. “By eliminating the typical post-wash grayish hue of classic TENCEL™ Lyocell, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 preserves a deep, vibrant indigo, which is ideal for high-contrast and vintage-inspired washes.

This innovation gives designers greater flexibility: depending on the desired effect and the final look of the garment, we can choose between the characteristic sheen of classic TENCEL™ Lyocell or the sophisticated matte texture of TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100.”

“Since its launch in October 2025, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 has generated strong interest among our mill and brand partners. In a very short time, we have already secured bulk orders. It is a meaningful milestone in today’s challenging market environment. The distinctive aesthetics it delivers answer a long-standing market demand, driving rapid adoption of this innovative fiber.  When a major global retailer puts the fiber on its shelves within months of launch, you know the market was ready. Volume 3 is already taking shape,” explained Tuncay Kılıçkan, Head of Global Business Development, Denim, Lenzing.

Among the early signals of commercial uptake, BOSSA and garment maker Rimaks have collaborated with Lenzing on Sculptured Volume, a concept within Rimaks’ Denim Codes collection that uses TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 to create sculpted silhouettes and twisted volumes across womenswear and menswear. “

The integration of TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 within BOSSA’s developments has enabled us to push the boundaries of garment form without losing the essence of denim,” added Meir Barbut, Board Member of Rimaks. The collaboration previewed at House of Denim in Amsterdam on 14 April 2026, ahead of Kingpins.
