The Inclusive Philippines Business Summit (IPBS) has a goal of lessening systematic differences in opportunities or distribution related to population attributes such as age, SOGIE (sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression), income, place of residence or ethnicity through the metamorphic capacity of Philippine enterprising entities.
A press conference, plenary sessions, and roundtable discussions focusing on the definition of an inclusive business are the highlights of the 1st IPBS. IPBS’ goal is to have a free-flowing conversation between and amongst regulatory entities in the private sector, MSMEs from the marginalized sector, as well as organizations/academic institutions which subscribe to the endorsement of authentic and functional inclusive practices/frameworks.
With the theme “Pioneering Change in the Way We Do Business,” the Summit will serve as the first high-level dialogue on IB in ASEAN. It aims at formally introducing and building the case for IB in ASEAN through exemplary models, instrumental government interventions, and regional support initiatives. The IB Summit also emphasized synergies between the private sector and the government as it gathered ASEAN Economic Ministers, Senior Officials, business champions and IB investors.
“As the ASEAN chair for 2017, the Philippines is championing the promotion of IB as a strategic measure to achieve inclusive, innovation-led growth. With the Summit, being the very first high-level gathering in the region, we are confident that this event will be a strategic take-off point to further promote and advocate IB and deepen engagements with low-income communities and micro-entrepreneurs as business partners,” said DTI Secretary and BOI Chairman Ramon Lopez.
In 2018, the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s landmark study unveiled that, in a work setting, policies are usually not inclusive. MSMEs make up 99.58% of the 2021 List of Establishments in the Philippines, so the mission to attain an inclusive economy constitutes an even bigger roadblock in terms of reach, strategy, and attainment.
With this, IPBS envisions to function both as a trigger and a connection between like-minded and passionate organizations in order to open up more possibilities for the economy via collectively progressive methods.
This event which will span four months is brought to you by the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Youth Voices Count (YVC) and Babaylanes, Inc. together with the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment and Big Dreams for Little People Philippines.
The 1st IPBS will be held from March 2023 to June 2023.
