The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, the world’s biggest book sale, has landed back in our homeland! Big Bad Wolf Books’ much-anticipated return to Manila also marks the official launch of the “Big Bad Tour: Mission 1 New Million Readers” campaign that will take the renowned book sale to six cities in the Philippines, kicking off at Parqal, Aseana City from May 24 to June 2, 2024. 

The book sale offers a collection of over two million budget-friendly books across various titles, including children’s literature, educational reads, and Filipino titles. That’s not all! To make the books accessible to a wider audience and to encourage more Filipinos to cultivate the habit of reading, the book sale promises exclusive deals and discounts including a special offer for Metrobank credit cardholders who can also enjoy a 0% 3-month installment for a single-receipt purchase of at least P3,000. 

Swedish furnishing brand IKEA is also returning to the book sale to give readers a cozy treat, plus a chance to win over P50,000 worth of prizes! More details on the exciting promo will come out on Big Bad Wolf Books’ social media pages, so stay tuned!

Big Bad Wolf Books co-founder Andrew Yap said, “This book sale is about making literature accessible to everyone, regardless of their background.” He added, “Our goal is to put books in the hands of as many readers as possible, to empower people, especially the youth, and to transform communities through the joy of books.”

Big Bad Wolf Books Philippine Managing Partner Carol Chuaying spoke about the campaign to reach one million new readers saying, “Books have the ability to change lives. Through this campaign, we hope to ignite a passion for reading  that will drive educational growth and personal development across the country.”

She expressed her enthusiasm and optimism for the campaign to drive an impact on the local communities. She remarked, “We are thrilled to see such an enthusiastic turnout, and we’re confident that together we can reach one million readers.”

Guests came together to celebrate the official launch of the “Big Bad Tour: 1 New Million Readers” campaign. During the event, Yap and Chuaying ceremoniously turned over books donated through the Red Readerhood Program to Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary of Legislative Affairs Fatima Aliah Dimaporo. 

The event was also graced by representatives of Big Bad Wolf Books’ partner organizations, including Metrobank Credit Card General Usage Head, Emily Koa; 2GO Business Unit Head for 2GO Forwarding, Francis Anne “Faye” Alonzo Babar; IKEA Marketing and PR Manager, Patrick Marcelo; IKEA Philippines Country Inspiration and Communication Manager, Jasmin Cruz; and Aseana City Chief Executive Officer, Delfin Angelo Wenceslao.

Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, lauded the initiative, claiming it will leave a lasting impact on countless lives. “Education is a cornerstone of progress, and promoting literacy is a vital step towards a brighter future for the Philippines,” he said. 

DSWD Undersecretary Fatima Aliah Dimaporo echoed these sentiments stating, “In a world where knowledge is power, initiatives like these serve as a beacon of hope. Encouraging reading and making books accessible to all is an investment in the country’s future,” she said. “I am proud to support Big Bad Wolf in their mission to cultivate a culture of reading in the Philippines.”

The book sale promises to be the most spectacular yet! Aside from jaw-dropping deals and discounts, it will also feature exciting activities and events.
