Willie and Korie Robertson on Phil’s Legacy, Faith, and What to Expect from ‘Duck Dynasty: The Revival’

The return of Duck Dynasty is more than a nostalgic comeback — it’s a heartfelt tribute to a family legacy built on faith, perseverance, and generations of shared purpose.
With Duck Dynasty: The Revival premiering on June 1, Willie and Korie Robertson offer an intimate look into what’s ahead for the beloved Louisiana family and how the late Phil Robertson’s journey continues to shape everything they do.
Phil’s story, once marked by brokenness, became a testimony of redemption after his life-changing decision to follow Jesus in the 1970s. “The faith was so fundamental, crucial to our lives,” Willie shared in a recent interview. “Without that, there wouldn’t be Duck Dynasty, there wouldn’t be a company, a business, our lives would look completely different.”
Phil’s influence stretched far beyond television; he baptized thousands in his own backyard, a quiet but powerful ministry that underpinned everything he stood for.
Although Phil passed away at 79 following a battle with Alzheimer’s, his impact endures. Willie described him as “a powerful voice” who “did everything God wanted him to do on this Earth.” That legacy continues with the family’s return to A&E — not merely for entertainment, but to shine a light on faith and family in today’s world.
The revived series offers a longer, more immersive format and captures the everyday rhythms of the Robertsons — from parenting and marriage to navigating the challenges of adulthood with their own children now taking center stage. “You’re going to see babies being born, and us dealing with the same things every family goes through,” Korie shared. “It’s real life.”
Fans of the original show will see familiar faces like Uncle Si and Aunt Kay, but Phil will not appear due to his illness. Still, his spirit remains a cornerstone of the narrative. The show’s new title, Revival, carries dual meaning — a nod to both spiritual renewal and a generational passing of the torch. “We hope our country is in revival, and we want to be part of that,” Korie said.
For the Robertsons, faith is not just part of the show — it’s the foundation. “It impacts every part of our life,” Korie emphasized. That authenticity is what continues to resonate with viewers. Their children are now stepping into roles of influence, from ministry to media, echoing the same values their parents modeled.
Behind the scenes, the family prayed before committing to the new series. “We wanted to be sure we were still aligned on keeping our faith front and center,” Korie explained. That alignment shows — from Sadie’s speaking engagements to John-Luke’s work at a Christian summer camp, the legacy lives on.
Ultimately, Duck Dynasty: The Revival isn’t just about ducks or dynasty. It’s about faith, family, and finding joy in the simple moments — the kind that point back to something greater. As Willie puts it, “It starts at home. It starts with our children. And hopefully it goes out from there and spreads even more.”
