Taguig’s Art & Music for Peace fair unites communities through murals, music, and culture—showcasing creativity as a powerful force for peace and connection.

As the sun dipped over TLC Park in Barangay Lower Bicutan, the hum of anticipation turned into a vibrant chorus of color, rhythm, and community. From April 24 to 26, Taguig’s TLC Park transformed into a cultural hub through the Art and Music for Peace: TLC Community Fair—a 3-day celebration designed not just to entertain, but to inspire unity in a world that often feels divided.

The event, part of Taguig’s 439th Founding Anniversary, drew crowds from across the metro and beyond. Families, artists, students, and tourists gathered in a shared space where creativity took center stage. With free admission and gates opening at 3:00 p.m., the fair offered something for everyone—from glamping setups and food stalls serving Filipino delicacies to immersive art installations and live performances.

At the heart of the celebration was a powerful idea: that art and music are not just forms of expression, but instruments of peace.

A City Milestone Meets a Cultural Movement

Taguig’s “4.25” celebration marks more than just another year in its history—it reflects the city’s evolving identity as a space that values culture, inclusivity, and community engagement. The TLC Community Fair stood out as a flagship event, merging civic pride with creative collaboration.

In her opening remarks, Mayor Lani Cayetano emphasized the city’s commitment to nurturing the arts, saying, “It’s a beautiful opportunity for us to celebrate arts—and even music and cuisines… the city is committed to truly promote arts in any form.” She also welcomed international guests and partners, adding, “We’re happy to be, hopefully, the permanent home of Meeting of Styles here in the Philippines.”

Her message underscored how cultural initiatives like this are made possible through community support and shared investment in the arts.

Meeting of Styles PH: Walls That Speak

A major highlight of the fair was the return of Meeting of Styles Philippines, now on its fourth year in Taguig. Known globally as one of the largest graffiti and mural festivals, the event brought together artists from different countries to transform blank walls into compelling visual narratives.

At the Mural Park in Gate 4, visitors watched as concrete surfaces came alive with bold colors and intricate designs. These were not just random artworks but also they were statements. Themes of unity, identity, love, and resilience emerged across the murals, each piece reflecting the artist’s voice and cultural background.

Organizer Tripp Martinez highlighted the deeper purpose behind the gathering, sharing, “Hopefully you’ll enjoy the next three days… better, bigger, and more artists, especially local artists who are putting the Philippines on the map.” He also emphasized the unifying power of creativity, noting that art serves as a universal language that connects people across cultures.

Adding a unique twist, live art sessions extended beyond walls. Vespa scooters were reimagined as moving canvases, symbolizing how art can exist in everyday spaces—accessible, dynamic, and alive.

Music That Moves More Than Just Crowds

As night fell, the energy shifted from visual to sonic. The “Tugtog Taguig: Himig ng Kapayapaan” concert series took over the grounds, featuring performances from artists like This Band, Jeremy Novela, and Coro Jesu.

The open-air concert was more than entertainment—it was a shared emotional experience. Strangers sang together, families bonded over music, and communities found common ground in melody and message. On the final day, high-energy activities like DJ sets, rap battles, and street dance cyphers added a raw, urban pulse to the celebration.

Why Art and Music Matter for Peace

Events like the TLC Community Fair underscore a critical truth: peace is not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of connection. Art and music create spaces where dialogue happens beyond words, where empathy is built through shared experience.

In a time when digital noise often drowns meaningful interaction, these physical gatherings remind people of the power of presence. A mural can challenge perspectives. A song can heal unseen wounds. Together, they foster a sense of belonging that policies alone cannot achieve.

Taguig’s initiative demonstrates how local governments can leverage culture as a tool for social cohesion. By investing in creative platforms, they are not just supporting artists—they are cultivating a more compassionate, connected society.

As the final notes faded and the last brushstrokes dried, one thing remained clear: peace, much like art, is something we create together.
