The coastal winds carried more than just the scent of saltwater this past Sunday at Hanna Park. The Atlantic Ocean became a sacred witness to nearly 2,000 souls who stepped forward in a powerful, public declaration of faith.
Organized by The Church of Eleven22, the 2025 Beach Baptism marked a milestone moment as 1,958 individuals were baptized—surrounded by waves, worship, and the unwavering spirit of community.
This year’s event saw a record-breaking turnout, with over 11,000 supporters, friends, and family members gathered along the Jacksonville shore. What began as an annual tradition has quickly grown into a spiritual movement that stretches far beyond local boundaries.
Many of the baptized had traveled from neighboring parts of Florida, Georgia, and even further afield—all drawn by a shared desire to make their commitment to Jesus Christ known.
“Baptism is not about the water. It’s about what it represents—dying to your old self and being raised anew in Christ,” shared Lead Pastor Joby Martin as he addressed the massive crowd. “Today is a celebration of changed lives, of sins washed away, and the unshakeable hope found in the Gospel.”
As attendees made their way into the ocean, arms raised and voices lifted in praise, the atmosphere was electric with reverence and joy. Worship music filled the air while volunteers and church leaders embraced each new believer stepping into the water. The scale of the event was matched only by the authenticity of the individual stories, each life touched and transformed by faith.
In a post-event message, the church expressed its gratitude and awe: “Every year Beach Baptism somehow gets better and better, and we could not be more in awe of the goodness of God. The church is alive and well, and the Spirit of God is on the move.”
The Church of Eleven22 has hosted beach baptisms for over a decade, and each year the numbers—and the impact—grow. Last year’s event saw over 1,600 participants, underscoring a trend of spiritual renewal that continues to ripple through the region. For many, this gathering serves as a visual reminder that faith is not confined to buildings—it is living, active, and deeply personal.
Jay Owen, a spokesperson for the church, emphasized the broader significance: “It’s a gift to be part of what God is doing. This reminds us that the church isn’t dead. God is working in people’s hearts every day, and this is just one way we get to witness it.”
Social media overflowed with heartfelt reactions. “My fourth year coming to Beach Baptism and every year is so powerful and amazing! Praise God,” shared one attendee. Another called it “a million little miracles,” perfectly capturing the day’s emotion.
In a world often marked by division and distraction, the 2025 Beach Baptism stood as a moving testament to unity, purpose, and grace. As ocean waves met the feet of the faithful, the message was clear: the Gospel is alive, and lives are being forever changed.
