Ohio State Football Team Sparks Campus Revival as Students Embrace Faith Through Baptism

The Ohio State University campus recently witnessed a remarkable spiritual revival, led by members of its football team, as hundreds of students gathered in an evening of worship, testimony, and baptism.
The event, organized with the help of campus ministries and local churches, saw the participation of 800 to 1,000 students, many of whom were deeply moved by the personal testimonies of players who shared their faith journeys. By the end of the night, an estimated 60 students took the significant step of baptism, publicly declaring their commitment to Christianity.
The revival was sparked by Ohio State football players who used their platform to share how faith transformed their lives. Among them, former wide receiver Kamryn Babb recounted his struggles, describing how, despite outward success, he felt spiritually lost. His testimony resonated with the crowd, as he spoke of finding purpose and healing through his faith.
Current Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka also expressed his gratitude for the event, saying, “We were praying for years and years for an event like this… but God did increasingly and abundantly more than what we thought.” This sentiment was echoed by many who attended, as they witnessed a movement that exceeded expectations.

Several campus ministries, including CRU, Revive, H20, Salt Company, and 614 Church, played a crucial role in organizing the event. Kenji Kuriyama, a missionary with Chi Alpha, noted that the event not only strengthened students’ faith but also unified different ministries on campus.
Through a shared mission, these groups collaborated in spreading the gospel, promoting the event, and providing support for students seeking to deepen their relationship with God.

The spontaneous nature of the revival further emphasized its significance. According to Kuriyama, players initially envisioned a small gathering, but the Holy Spirit moved powerfully, drawing an unexpected number of students. What began as a night of testimonies turned into an altar call where dozens made life-changing decisions.

As the night progressed, large water tubs—typically used by the football team for ice baths—were repurposed for baptisms. Students stepped forward, embracing their faith as the crowd erupted in cheers and worship. Videos of the event quickly spread on social media, capturing moments of prayer, singing, and joyful celebration.

The revival’s impact extended beyond the night itself, inspiring ongoing conversations about faith on campus. Players like offensive lineman Luke Montgomery emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong spiritual foundation, sharing that team members regularly engage in Bible studies and prayer groups.

The revival at Ohio State is more than just a one-time event—it signifies a growing movement of faith among students. Football players, often seen as role models, have used their influence to point their peers toward something greater than the game. As Ohio State continues its football season, the spiritual revival remains a defining moment for many students, demonstrating the power of faith in transforming lives.
