Fresh from the high of this year’s Met Gala, Ferragamo creative director Maximilian Davis joined forces with Bergdorf Goodman to celebrate a new chapter in fashion storytelling. 

Held at the department store’s famed Fifth Avenue location, the intimate cocktail soirée spotlighted Davis’s latest achievement: a capsule shoe collection inspired by the golden age of Hollywood, reimagined for today’s red carpet icons.

The exclusive event drew an impeccable guest list, with Tracee Ellis Ross and Paloma Elsesser leading the arrivals. Both known for their striking personal style, the two icons added an extra touch of glamour to the elegant setting of BG Restaurant, which overlooks Central Park. 

Alongside them were LaKeith Stanfield, Brenda Weischer, Chrissy Rutherford, and Vanessa Hong, mingling over sparkling champagne, fig bites, and citrus-accented décor—a signature detail from Davis that evokes warmth and Italian hospitality.

At the heart of the celebration was the unveiling of Davis’s seven-style capsule, created exclusively for Bergdorf Goodman. Drawing from Ferragamo’s archives, the designs echo the refined silhouettes of the 1940s. “We went into the archives and brought these styles into the present,” Davis said. “It’s about honoring where we’ve come from while speaking to where we’re going.”

Guests were invited to descend into a cinematic installation just floors below—an immersive homage to the drama and beauty of classic film sets. Set against a bold backdrop of Ferragamo red, the surrealist space captured the spirit of backstage creativity and timeless glamour. It provided the perfect stage for Davis’s reimagined designs, which seamlessly bridge heritage and innovation.

Since assuming his role at Ferragamo in 2022, Davis has quickly established himself as a leading creative force. Celebrating his 30th birthday just weeks ago, the British designer continues to breathe new energy into the brand, known for its pioneering history in footwear—including the invention of the wedge heel in 1937.

His interpretation of this legacy has already produced signature items like the Hug bag and red carpet looks worn by the likes of Dua Lipa.

Linda Fargo, Bergdorf Goodman’s fashion authority, offered a toast in Davis’s honor. “The first time I saw Maximilian’s work, I knew he was special,” she said. “Ferragamo is in good hands.” Her words echoed the sentiment of the evening: that tradition is most powerful when seen through fresh eyes.

When asked about his favorite piece in the collection, Davis pointed to a sculptural gold wedge embellished with a refined chain detail—an elevated nod to one of Ferragamo’s archival treasures. “Every piece has a purpose,” he shared. “It’s about creating something memorable.”

As dusk settled over the city, the event came to a close with quiet conversation, laughter, and admiration for a designer rewriting fashion’s past into something unmistakably present.
