Remember When Chris Pratt Shared His Experience with Daniel Fast on The Late Show?

Chris Pratt has never been one to shy away from sharing personal experiences, whether it’s his love for the outdoors, his fitness journey, or his faith in God.

Back in 2019, the Guardians of the Galaxy star made headlines when he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and discussed his participation in the Daniel Fast—a 21-day period of prayer and fasting inspired by the biblical prophet Daniel.

During the interview, Pratt enthusiastically described the fast, which involves eliminating meat, sugar, alcohol, and processed foods while focusing on spiritual growth. “It’s actually amazing,” he told Colbert, acknowledging that the challenge went beyond physical discipline. The fast, he explained, was deeply rooted in his faith and provided an opportunity for self-reflection.

Colbert, known for his quick wit, couldn’t resist making a biblical reference, joking that Daniel’s biggest challenge wasn’t food restrictions but surviving a den of lions. Pratt played along, quipping, “Lion fighting is sick cardio.”

But the conversation took a deeper turn when Colbert asked whether Pratt ever felt like he was in his own version of a lion’s den as a Hollywood star constantly under scrutiny.

Pratt admitted that fame could feel overwhelming, but he shared a piece of advice that stuck with him: “If the spotlight that’s shining on you is brighter than the light that comes from within you, it will kill you.”

The actor credited this quote to Christine Caine, a well-known speaker and activist, emphasizing the importance of staying grounded in personal values rather than external validation.

For Pratt, the Daniel Fast wasn’t just about physical discipline; it was a way to strengthen his spiritual connection and mental resilience. The fasting guidelines require participants to focus on whole, unprocessed foods—fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and water—but the real emphasis is on deepening one’s faith. Many who follow the fast use the 21-day period to engage in prayer, meditation, and reflection, making it as much a mental and emotional reset as it is a dietary one.

Fans had mixed reactions to Pratt’s fasting commitment, with some praising his dedication and others questioning the extreme nature of the diet. Regardless, the actor remained positive, stating that he felt physically refreshed and spiritually strengthened by the end of the three weeks.

Revisiting Pratt’s Late Show interview years later, the discussion remains relevant—not just for those interested in fasting, but for anyone seeking balance in a world of external pressures. Whether through faith, discipline, or self-reflection, the core message remains the same: inner strength matters more than outward appearances.

For Pratt, the Daniel Fast was more than a diet; it was a moment of clarity in a high-profile career filled with expectations. And for those who watched, it was a reminder that sometimes, stepping back and refocusing can be the most valuable reset of all.
