Gal Gadot, renowned for her role as “Wonder Woman,” has made headlines once again with her unapologetic stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly in light of the devastating October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas.

A proud Israeli citizen and granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor, Gadot has consistently spoken out in support of Israel, even in the face of immense criticism.

In a recent interview with Variety, Gadot expressed her initial reluctance to dive into political matters, noting that as an artist, her primary goal has always been to entertain and inspire hope.

However, the horrors of the October 7 massacre, in which civilians—including women, children, and elderly Holocaust survivors—were abducted and subjected to unspeakable violence, prompted her to take a firm stand. “I could not be silent,” she said, revealing her shock at the hate and misinformation that followed the attack.

Gadot’s support for Israel is not new; she had been an active advocate even before the October assault, having served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for two years. Her unwavering support became more visible in the aftermath of the attack, when she co-organized a private screening for Hollywood elites, showcasing graphic footage of the atrocities committed by Hamas, with the goal of shedding light on the reality of the situation.

In the months that followed, Gadot continued to speak out, condemning not only the violence but also the world’s failure to fully grasp the severity of the crisis, particularly the abuse of women during the attacks.

Despite facing significant backlash from some sectors of the entertainment industry and the public, Gadot remains resolute. “I’m not a hater,” she emphasized in the interview, highlighting her family’s deep ties to Israel.

As a granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor and an eighth-generation Israeli, her personal connection to the country is undeniable. She also stressed her belief in humanity and the importance of speaking out for the hostages still held by Hamas. “When your compass is clear, your conscience is clean,” she affirmed.

The actress further criticized the rise of antisemitism globally, particularly in the United States, where she has witnessed an alarming shift in public sentiment. During her speech at the Anti-Defamation League’s annual summit, Gadot called out the disturbing trend of not just antisemitism but also the glorification of Hamas’s actions, condemning those who failed to denounce the violence. For Gadot, the call for support from international communities was not met with the solidarity she had hoped for.

In a moving declaration, Gadot reaffirmed her commitment to Israel, saying, “I know what I’m advocating for,” adding that her conscience remains clear because she is fighting for the innocent victims of violence.

As she continues to advocate for Israel, Gadot’s voice has become one of the most visible and steadfast in Hollywood, and her refusal to remain silent in the face of such overwhelming hate ensures that her message is heard far and wide.
